Losing a game is always a painful experience. It may have been an away game against Manchester City, but I was hoping we were going to get something more out of it.
However what surprised me the most after the game were the references to way we play and in particular to the 3-5-2 tactic we followed. We usually play with 4 defenders, but the manager decided to use a different system. I do not think that that was the reason we lost, but rather the fact that a few of our players did not perform to their usual standard and consequently the team's performance was not the expected.
This happens to all teams. It is impossible and sometimes even unfair to expect the players to play to the highest possible standard all the time. On the other hand it is fair to expect them to try their best, although sometimes this is simply not enough. I am sure that everyone tried their best as we always do.
