Nikos was very disappointed to see the red card for a challenge that brought down Johansson in the penalty area. The referee Rob Styles dismissed Nikos and awarded the penalty kick, only to later review the replay and change his mind. As such, Nikos was cleared and will be available for selection for the game against Arsenal.

Following Style's decision Nikos commented: 'I was a bit frustrated to be sent off as I knew it was not a penalty. In fact the referee should have awarded a foul against them a bit earlier. As far as the penalty is concerned it was only a fair challenge and in no way I should have been sent off. The referee later acknowledged his mistake which it's not something you see happening every day and that's to his credit. At least his decision did not really change anything as Manchester City won the 3 points against Newcastle.'
